"If you're so sure that it's fake, then you go stand in there and say it!" Naruto cried, pointing behind himself at the restroom. "I dare you to say it three times with the lights off."
"I don't truly see the point of all of this. But if it will prove to you all that there is no such thing as this "Bloody Needles" or whatever you choose to call this bogeyman, then I'll gladly go ahead and finish this silly ritual." Sai said, uncrossing his arms and heading over towards the room that the blond had pointed to.
He heard Sakura talking to Ino from somewhere behind him, but didn't bother to turn around. Let them laugh, he thought. They'd see soon enough.
Gripping the handle to the restroom door, Sai gave a tug and pulled it open wide for everyone to see in. He flipped the light on and then stepped in fully.
The way the room was arranged, the first thing that you saw when you walked into the bathroom was the sink. And directly over that, the mirror.
That was his target.
"Good luck, kid." Kisame said, giving a light snort of amusement. "You'll need it."
"I highly doubt that. But thank you kindly in any case." Sai said. He waved to his friends, smiling slightly as he did so, and then he shut the door, leaving himself standing alone in the bathroom. He turned to face the mirror, staring blankly back at his own reflection. "Hello there, sir." He greeted himself. "Shall we begin this?"
He took a deep breath and opened his mouth to begin the first words, but a shrill voice on the other side of the door stopped him.
"Don't forget the lights!" Naruto reminded him.
With an light sigh and an eye roll, Sai reached behind himself, feeling the wall for the switch. Once he had located it, he flipped it down swiftly and was immediately engulfed in a suffocating darkness.
He kept looking ahead of himself, where he knew the mirror was. He could still faintly make out the room now that his eyes were adjusting, and he once more saw his reflection. He grinned and began the ritual.
"Bloody Needles . . ."
